This week, we had the amazing opportunity to interview Ashlee McCown of Easel Hart Painting Gallery. Ashlee’s art has been featured on our blog before, but now you have the opportunity to get to know the artist behind these gorgeous paintings.
Q: When did you start creating?
A: I’ve always done some form of “arts & crafts” my entire life, drawing, scrapbooking, etc. I watched Bob Ross (of course) as a kid and had always wanted to try painting, but I didn’t actually start until about 6 years ago. It was one of those “let’s see what happens” things and I didn’t expect to enjoy it that much or be “ok” enough with my own work to share it with anyone. But I loved the first one so much, just for what it represented especially in that time of my life, that it really became a form of therapy
Q: Which artists are you most influenced by?
A: I have been inspired by a lot of artists, Chiara Batista, Audrey Kawasaki, Camilla d’Errico, too many to name, really. I get a lot of inspiration from music, from a variety of genres.
Q: What advice would you give your younger self?
A: More than anything I would’ve started painting sooner, because I can see the growth in myself, not only in how I paint, but in my thought process and how my perspective has changed in life, in general.
